General Assistance Department
The General Assistance program is a state mandated program for the provision of basic needs for eligible applicants. Basic needs include: rent, food, utilities, fuel and other services essential to maintaining individuals who are Wiscasset residents. All assistance is granted in voucher form. No cash assistance is issued.
Please complete the General Assistance application before contacting the office at 207- 882-8200 Ext. 3 or via email at admin@wiscasset.org. Applications are available online here or at the Town Office. General Assistance hours are by appointment only on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10am and noon and 1 to 3 p.m. You must apply for all elegible benefits at Department of Health and Human Services before your General Assistance review.
